Pony Gold is Canadian singer songwriter Theresa Anne Bromley. Originally from rural Northern BC, her music blends elements of folk, alt-country, and soul, and is known for raw, personal lyricism and a distinctive vocal style. Her songs are steeped in the complexities of an adverse small-town upbringing, navigating the murky waters of addiction, loss, and a father imprisoned, that offer a poignant and raw reflection of the human condition.
Bromley started writing songs and performing early on, and eventually split town at a young age to focus on her music career. After over a decade working as part of various groups, she started releasing music as Pony Gold in 2023 with Take Me Somewhere (EP). Her performances tend to be duo or involve a full backing band featuring husband Matt Bromley on slide guitar, lending to the project’s signature sound.
Pony Gold’s title track from her debut EP Take Me Somewhere (2023) charted #1 on local college radio Roots/Folk/Blues charts, and her song “Love You Anyway” featured on Indie 88. Pony Gold was a second ballot nominee for Group of the Year at the BC Country Music Awards, and Band of the Month at The Zone 91.3fm.
Gaining recognition after her initial release, Pony Gold performed on stages across Canada including the Vogue Theatre, and at renowned music festivals like NXNE, Rifflandia, Filberg, and Sunfest. She has supported artists like Chaparelle and Cameron Whitcomb.
Pony Gold has announced her debut full-length album, produced by Leeroy Stagger, is slated for release this fall. Her first single “Big in the City” is available now, and second single “Impossible Dream” is out July 18th.
